About Me

My name is Sunasia Echols and I am a freshman at the University of Michigan. I am undecided on a particular major, but I am debating between business and the medical field. With me coming from a horrible English class, in high school, my writing skills are not the best. I may have little strengths, but not enough to satisfy me.

In my first writing class, I was scared to write because of my capabilities, but some way, somehow, I got through it. Writing my first major project, my literary narrative, was relatively easy because it was about me. The hard part of it, just like every paper, was starting it; but once I started it, I finished and even past the page range that I was afraid of. After receiving my revisions, I was in shock because of the amount of work I had to change. But, when I changed it, it was changed for the best.

My next major project was the Good Night, and Good Luck performance review. When I started watching, I asked myself, how am I going to take notes on a movie? Completing the task of this paper was confusing because I knew nothing of what the movie was talking about, which resulted in me researching and analyzing data. The experience of writing this review made my last major project easier.

Completing the casebook of the movie, Antwone Fisher, was relatively easy. When I noticed that I was making the same errors that I did in the Good Night, and Good Luck review, I was able to change them right then and there, instead of turning them in. Writing 100 really prepared me for Writing 125, which I will be taking in the fall. I will carry the skills I have learned in Writing 100 to benefit me in the fall.

As a writer, even though I hate writing, I have learned d many important things in writing this term. I have learned alternate ways to form ideas for certain papers. For instance, before creating my literary narrative, I had no idea of what to write, until an exercise of communicating with my peers. Talking about ideas to someone and them taking notes is very beneficial because all of your ideas are now on a sheet of paper. I have also learned that any source you use should be cited. Even though it may be the littlest idea, such as a definition, it should be cited.

As of right now, writing is not my best talent, but I am working on it. Being able to come up with various ideas fall in the category of my strengths, with the help of that communication exercise. I have also gained strength in descriptively telling a story; it would seem as if the reader was actually watching the performance. I have a lot to work on as far as my skills of writing. One of my weaknesses is being able to transition paragraphs smoothly from one to another. I also have difficulties with the flow of my sentences and suffering from writers block

All of these tasks I learned and completed in Writing 100 can all be strengthened. Overall, my work as advanced my skills of Writing; SO GET REAADY and see if you can see the difference.
